Life works like this. You go to elementary school, then high, you choose a great college, study your life’s dream. While you’re at college, you meet the girl of your dream, and after graduating college, you propose to her, with the perfect diamond engagement ring, just like the one every girl wants. Then you buy a house, have kids, and live the dream. Right?
Well, not for everyone. There are plenty of people who don’t want to live the cookie cutter life, and who are looking for something a little different. Maybe you think you’re girlfriend is too unique to have the same kind of diamond ring every other girl has. Or maybe you have the kind of girl who looks for originality in life. Whatever the reason, if you have found yourself lo0king for an unusual engagement ring, here is a guide with some different rings you may want to consider, and other ideas for how to go about getting that unique engagement ring.
** Most options you can click on for pictures and more detailed information.

Antique Engagement Rings – what is more unique than rings that are no longer made? This could be something passed through the generations, or a beautiful piece of art you found at an auction.
Aquamarine Engagment Rings – Aquamarine is a light blue/blue-green gem that is usually flawless to the naked eye. It is the birth stone for Scorpios, and means foresight, courage, and happiness. Some also say it makes you youthful, meaning there are many possible reasons why this could be a perfect engagement ring. It can be combined with other stones, and goes especially well with diamonds.
Cushion Cut Engagement Rings – a different sort of cut that gives a diamond a real classic look. For those looking for something different than a princess cut or round brilliant cut.
Two Tone Engagement Rings – the two-tones usually refers to two different metals being used. So instead of a diamond or a platinum band, it is often two shades of gold. This makes for a very unique ring, because the band is two different colors.
Pink Engagement Rings – these are engagement rings with pink sapphires. The sapphires are sometimes inlaid into the band, are located on the sides of a central diamond, or in some cases, can be the main stone. There are plenty of possible combinations.
Build Your Own Engagement Ring – a brilliant option if you have something in mind, but can”t find it anywhere. You could use any stone you want, you could mix new parts with old family heirlooms….the options are endless.
Rainbow Engagement Rings – very unusual, very unique. This is an engagement ring that has a selection of many different gemstones, often inlaid into the band, and sometimes there is one larger stone in the very center.
